The Focus WRC made an excellent debut at the 1999 Monte Carlo Rally where it finished 3rd overall driven by Colin McRae, ex-Subaru driver and rapidly heading towards superstar level. A race type is the term used for the type of challenge a race takes place with a given vehicle and racetrack. The player is given Standard Race as the default race type whereas the rest are unlocked either through Ford Competition mode or Ford Challenge mode.
